Matthew Russell

I finally met my animation mentor for this course, he's name is Matthew Russell and he is part of the DNA team that creates Jimmy Neutron show. I think this is exciting, because many times you look the CG animations and would love to meet one of the guys that make show or movie. Well finally I meet one of them and as I expected he's a great guy that loves is works. So hopefully he will push us to the limit to get the best out of us.

Welcome

Welcome to my blog. This is the first blog I start, the idea is to have a place to share my adventures as a AnimationMentor student. I just started this fall, so I'm a complete beginner in the animation field.

Right now I'm working as a computer enginner in developing web applications for my company customers.

As exciting as it is I always share a love for the arts, cartoons and movies. So finally I decided to dig more in the exciting side of animation.

Here in Mexico, animation is very limited. In the 70's and 80's we had some original productions. But the best one the Cantinflas Show was made in USA by Warner Bros animators. Every chapter was just 5 minutes length.

Today the only example that I know is the HuevoCartoon, by the way excellent adult comedy. But beside that I think animation is Mexico is limited to some big budget commercials and that's it. Azteca 7 a television network created a show, but I haven't seen it and nobody that about it.

There are some 3D animation studios in Mexico City (Eunoia to mention one) that are trying to create a successful company and I wish them good luck, so in the future we start to have some great productions.

As a student of a limited field, is very exciting to learn from some of the best like Pixar, DNA, Disney, ILM just to mention some.
